Back in 2007, MoveOn.org and John Edwards championed a boycott of FOX News, since any democrat going on the program would lend it legitimacy. And just this last month, both Clinton and Obama broke that boycott by appearing on The O'reilly Factor and FOX News Sunday respectively. And this was after Hillary (rightfully) trashed MoveOn and Daily Kos for being champions of smear attacks, hate-mongering, and intimidation. The leftist activists, naturally, were not pleased.
Having said that, does anyone else see this as a good development? I don't want to see the radicals at MoveOn.org setting the tone for America. And I think anyone being backed up by these folks is doomed to failure. After all, the radical left-wingers behind MoveOn failed to get an unpopular Bush kicked out of office in 2004. And we already see what a bangup job they did for Edwards this year. Your opinion of MoveOn and Daily Kos has obviously been formed exclusively by Bill O'Reilly, and it doesn't square with the facts. MoveOn is simply a grassroots organization set up to support certain political issues. It is no different than the NRA or the AMA in that regard. You don't have to agree with their positions, of course, but please at least be factual in writing about them. They definitely do not champion smear attacks, hate-mongering or intimidation. You could look at their website yourself and you would see what I mean.

How many more polls would Obama drop below 50% using Rush's & Daily Kos admitted tactic 2 keep him above 50%?
It was almost undoubtedly coincidental, but a sequence of events occurring over the past few days has put quite a bit of egg on the face of the most venerable pollster in the game: Gallup. Apparently, Rush Limbaugh decided recently to mix his polling analysis with a little racist speculation:
';Gallup has it [Obama's job approval] just teetering there on the
little teeter-totter at 50%, and they're doing everything they can,
they're upping the sample of black Americans, to keep him at 50% in
the Gallup poll.';
This, of course, is an incredibly serious accusation, and it led to a sharp denial from Gallup polling head Frank Newport on Thursday. But what happened on Friday? Gallup's tracking poll broke the barrier and found Obama at 49%. No word on how many seconds into his broadcast it took for Limbaugh to claim the credit and proclaim his infallibility.

Reading between the lines on this one can see the Far Far Farthest Left website the Daily Kos is doing damage control to try to prop up an image that Spector is not in trouble of getting kicked to the curb when in fact he really is. It also shows desperation on the part of the Daily Kos to do anything to try to ensure Judas Spector wins so he can become the new Far Left poster boy.

Barney Frank (D) once said,

And Dick Durbin (D) once said,

This is not an insignificant development. Blue Dogs hold 52 seats in the Democratic caucus. Moderate Democrats hold the balance of power in the Senate. If even one moderate votes to allow a filibuster, then the Democrats cannot invoke cloture. Something tells me that the Democratic leadership will end up making substantial concessions to this group to keep them all on board.

According to news reports on TV and blogs on talkleft.com and mydd.com, many Clinton supporters are being targeted by Obama supporters in order to drum them out of the blogging communities. If this is happening to you, the two sites above will provide you a site for interaction.
Also, I recommend copying all blogs which appear to be swarm attacks or other attempts to run Clinton supporters off of a blog, then sending these copies to news media and Clinton's site for follow-up.

This is actually a good place to practice, because when you are out campaigning door to door unless you are in a very unifrom community you will get a lot of abuse.
That is one reason why College students like to campaign for their candidates in the Collge Community but they rarely go outside of the College Community because they cannot or will not take the abuse that you get that goes along with political campaigning.
However if you plan to learn what you are really doing you need to go door to door in comminuites that are actively opposed to you and your candidate.
That means that you are going to be on the receiving end of a great deal of abuse.
That is just part of learning how to be effective in the political environment.
Here what is the worst that can happen to you?
You will get notices of violation, your account may even be suspended or revoked.

Barack H. Obama, has been elected the 44th President of the United States. He was democratically elected by a majority of about 54% of the votes cast. That is a fact. Also a fact, he is an American Citizen, over the age of 35 and qualified to hold the office he was elected into.
I am growing very tired of hearing from the media, so as not to alienate those opposing voices, for fear of losing their viewership, that the basis of all this Obama hate is only racism in a very small amount of these folks. It isn't, there is absolutly no other explaination for the actions and rehetoric that has been racheted up the past 8 months. Those ';leaders'; of this opposition, Limbaugh, Hannity and Beck, are doing all they can to insure that every racist fear these people have is brought to their attention.

When you dig deeper you find that some (not many or all) but some of these individuals have an anti-Obama sentiment for no tangible reason - they prefer to discuss the relevance of the birth certificate issue, his socialist agenda etc - but at the root of the problem - what is really there?
It is only an opinion but I think that this falls under racism, to believe that America is beyond race is simply false and Obama will never be fully supported by the complete American population even if he turns around the country, clams the terrorist activities and fears, and improved the quality of life for all Americans - he will still be negatively considered by some - so as I said - you are forced to as what is really there?

I think the term ';free fall'; is Republican rhetoric of what they want to believe. The Gallup Poll had President Obama at 57% approval on June 17. And today it was 56%. I think when health care reform passes it will set up the Republicans for more losses in 2010. A liberal who is willing to admit that many of the problems within our educational system stems from the Teachers Unions. I鈥檓 shocked.
1. Education. At present most inner-city public schools have drop-out rates of over 50%. And for those that don't drop out they are not prepared to succeed in college. But the problem does not end there. In highly educated rich Boulder Colorado for example, only 50% of the 10th graders are proficient in math.
We no longer have an economy with plenty of jobs for those with just a high school education and additional jobs for those that did not complete high school. Not just the good jobs, but most jobs period are there for those with a college degree.
We cannot address the problems we face today and will face tomorrow without fixing our school system. And we cannot compete with India and China if we don't improve our education system.
And we, as liberals, must face the fact that we will have to fight the teacher unions to fix the system. The teacher unions are not the only problem. But they are a large barrier to fixing this and they in many places have a stranglehold on those from the left that need to fix the system.
My question is:
Do you believe that any of the Democratic forerunners are willing to meet this problem head-on, or will they shy away because the Teachers Unions are the largest, strongest, and carry more clout than any of the other unions?

The Federal government needs to get out of the education business. Grants, loans, programs, everything. Give all the monies back to the States and let local government regain control of our schools. On education, what no one has mentioned is that we have taken personal responsibility out of schools. we do not hold students, parents or teachers accountable for education. By doing the pass them because if we don't it will hurt their self-esteem has also helped dumb down the educational process. I do not understand how no child left behind has ';dumb'; downed our educational system By holding schools and teachers responsible for doing their job is not dumbing down. What is wrong with having schools reach minimum standards? Just throwing money at the problem will not fix it, there has to be rewards and punishments if standards are nt met.
Well, I went to the site and read it for myself. No where in that article does he make the case as to WHY the teachers unions are the problems. He doesn't make a credible case for this issue in the small paragraph he writes about it. In other words, he doesn't pose any connections between these problems with schools and how the teachers unions are involved with holding these schools back. This isn't a very credible article that you pose. It's pretty over generalized and weak. Good luck blaming teachers however instead of posing real solutions. I am lucky enough to say that I have three children who all attended and graduated from high school with the ability to read and write. My oldest, a daughter, did attend college and is still taking classes part time (since she has now become a wife and mother) to get a degree in Nursing. My second child, a son, chose the service after participating in ROTC in his high school years and is serving as a Chaplains Assistant in Iraq. My youngest finished high school..and has no desire to aquire a higher degree. She is married, her and her husband both have full time jobs, a house, two cars..and appear to be doing well with their choice of occupations. I believe the reason that my children succeeded as they have is because of their family support....not because of their teachers. I see this arguement all the time where someone wants to blame the teachers or the school district, etc...for the poor level of education afforded our children in this day and time. My question: what are the parents doing to make sure their children are getting the education they need? How closely do the parents follow their childs education and know what level they are on?? If the drop-out rate is 50%, then there is a failure occuring not at school but in the home....parents who want the best for their children do not ALLOW these children to drop out unless they themselves are less educated than their own children. Don't blame it all on the teachers or the teachers union....the education of children starts at home with a parent who takes the time to be involved in their childs education.
If you are worried about your schools, look into the Coordinated School Health and School of the 21st Century programs.
Schools that run these programs are able to stabilize test scores while at the same time lowering their drop out rates to below 10%
Look them up, they are worth your time.

There are some common threads here.
Unions are socialist organizations. If you are in one getting fired for incompetence, and particularly the teachers union, it is next to impossible. When a school must get rid of a BAD teacher they do not fire them, they transfer them to another school
As long as the Democrats pander to socialism and these types of organizations the schools WILL NOT CHANGE.
If you want real change, real improvement, privatize the schools, let the free market address the needs and then you would see this entire mess essentially disappear, and once again the US would lead the world in this area.

I admit many area's teacher's salaries are a joke, but then many public school teachers are a joke themselves. For all of the hard-working, dedicated teachers, I would apologize but this is not a comment on the majority of teachers, I would love to see you get a raise. I would also like to see the ability to remove a pupil from public schools if it is determined they have ';no desire'; to complete school or after a certain number of failures. But until pay can be related to merit, I don't have much sympathy, because there are too many over-payed worthless teachers that cannot be fired.

Affirmative action has caused the educational level to recede as well as various Republican policies such as ,';No child left behind'; responsible for dumbing down America's youth. Our own grandchildren go to private schools to give them an education compatible to our standards. My wife and I chip in to help the kids afford this luxury but we consider the efforts worth it. 1. Education. At present most inner-city public schools have drop-out rates of over 50%. And for those that don't drop out they are not prepared to succeed in college. But the problem does not end there. In highly educated rich Boulder Colorado for example, only 50% of the 10th graders are proficient in math.
We no longer have an economy with plenty of jobs for those with just a high school education and additional jobs for those that did not complete high school. Not just the good jobs, but most jobs period are there for those with a college degree.
We cannot address the problems we face today and will face tomorrow without fixing our school system. And we cannot compete with India and China if we don't improve our education system.

On education, what no one has mentioned is that we have taken personal responsibility out of schools. we do not hold students, parents or teachers accountable for education. By doing the pass them because if we don't it will hurt their self-esteem has also helped dumb down the educational process. I do not understand how no child left behind has ';dumb'; downed our educational system By holding schools and teachers responsible for doing their job is not dumbing down. He doesn't make a credible case for this issue in the small paragraph he writes about it. The few Muslims that are against democracy want the coalition forces to fail in Iraq. They are not in favour of the Iraqi people being allowed to have a say in what happens to Iraq.
As for why do people hate George Bush in the Muslim world, it is probably due to the one sided support for Israel. Do not get me wrong, Palestinian extremists are no angels, and Israel has a right to defend itself, but what is happening to innocent Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza is wrong.
The other reason is probably the inconsistency when it comes to democracy.

He and a number of other politicians call themselves centrists, which I guess is a philosophy requiring one to be neither left nor right ideologically speaking. I don't understand that concept. On some matters the correct position is to the right and not the center. On other matters the answer is found on the left and not the center. The center can only provide an effective solution for some percentage of the problems that beset politicians, so as an operating philosophy it is as ineffective as being a rigid lefty or right winger.
A liberal, which is what I profess to be, is supposed to look at the facts critically and indifferently and find solutions that work. Selling those solutions is a political act, however, and so if the solution does not conform to ones pre-conceived notion of what the solution should be, then there's no selling the solution to that person. Then you have to remain a purist or become a realist and sell your concept and that involves an unpredictable combination of actual bribes and policy sellouts.
I believe that you depending on the gravity of the situation you sometimes must be a realist and other times you must be a purist. But self-described centrists are always realists and never purists, because they are captives of and believers in the political process itself. And this is both a strength and a weakness as the case may be.
President Obama is a centrist. You may not like this answer because it conflicts with your pre-conceived notion of his political identity. So ask yourself this with respect to any issue of concern to you. Is the President's leadership visible and are his policies effective? The two go hand in hand although one is subjective and the other is more or less objective. If the answer to either question is no, then he isn't doing his job. If the answer to both is yes, then he is doing his job.
