Was Daily Kos Correct to Call Powell an Incompetent General?

Was Daily Kos Correct to Call Powell an Incompetent General?
No, he made a mistake, like most of us. He thought he could trust what Bushco was telling him.Was Daily Kos Correct to Call Powell an Incompetent General?
Absolutely.Powell didn't fit their agenda at the time, so he was incompetent. Now that he's endorsed Obama, he's been redeemed and is a swell guy!

I have always, and still do respect Powell. His decision to support Obama doesn't change my opinion of him nor my vote for McCain. Anyone who's surprised at his choice probably doesn't realize he's more of a liberal Republican than McCain used to be.

lamijos: Powell was never a 5-star General. The last one was General Omar Bradley in 1950.
all the ones we had since Eisenhower have been incompetent, with the possible exception of Norman Schwarzkopf.
When W. fired Colin Powell, what did the Republicans expect?
And what was the FreeRepublic saying about Powell BEFORE the endorsement.
Powell wants a job if obama gets elected.

And since Obama follows Affirmative Action and Powell is also black by making ammends he now has a good shot.

Typical Republican remark. If he were endorsing McSame you would call him a genius, but since he broke ranks he is the anti-crist.

You and those like you make me sick to my stomach.
No. Powell is an American Hero who has proven his tactical genius time and again.
It's amazing how fast the Klan, I mean, the Republicans are so quick to demonize someone they supposedly revered and loved.
I'm a Democrat who has never laid eyes on the Daily Kos. If it is their opinion that General Powell was incompetent as a US Army General or as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, then it is an opinion that is not worth taking seriously.

But it would be instructive to learn who the Daily Kos would consider to be a competent US Army General. General David Petraeus, perhaps? I mean to say what is their criteria for measuring the effectiveness of the men who have served as US Army generals throughout America's modern history, and how do today's US Army generals measure up in comparison. That would be worthwhile knowing.
So do you believe that Powell is competent and thus his opinion about Obama is valid, or do you believe that Powell is incompetent and Bush was incompetent for hiring him as Secretary of State?
Nope, you're just a crying republican grasping at straws.
JB is out and Powell is in. I wonder where Rev. Wright fits in this picture. Wait and see.
No! They're just being partisan, disloyal and dishonest (Republican).
incompetent but not stupid. He's looking for an adviser position in an Obama administration -- no doubt.
Don't they know that the real American heroes are those sitting behind type-writers spewing bile, hatred and ridicule and not the four-star generals who lead thousands of men in a war which achieved it's stated objectives?

No doubt they'd have said EXACTLY the same thing if he'd endorsed McCain (NOT).
Thank you for this. I have been saying last month when I answered a question about what competant black leaders would I consider for President I repsonded Colin Powell. Democrats called him an uncle Tom and a Warmonger for Bush/Cheney. Now all I hear from Dems is he is a great Military leader and well respected honorable man.
What doe's 2004 have to do with now? You can call Mr. Powell anything you like but at the end of the day he is a retired 5 count em 5star General from the Military. This man can take any speaking engagement and talk about twinkle twinkle little star and get a 6 figure salary for doing so.
