At this point, Obama seems to be nothing but a puppet on a string. The bold promises he made for change, change, change, will not happen, for he is doing his level best to appoint the old time Democrats to his Cabinet. Seems as if he is caught in the 'payback time' scheme of dirty politics, having to pay back those who supported him. He will be nothing less than a figurehead. Is obama the man daily kos, huffington leftist types thought he was?
According to eminent writer, Malcolm Gladwell, author of ';Outliers,'; ';Tipping Point,'; and other works, what Obama is doing is very prudent. Gladwell says that research has shown that in order to become experienced and do a job well, one must acquire at least 10,000 hours doing it. So Obama is tapping the well of those former government officials who have already put in the 10,000 hours. Remember, they will be members of government who implement Obama's policies, not their own. They serve at the will of the president, and if they become rogues, he can simply remove and replace them with someone more suitable to his liking.

When Obama promised change, he meant a change in policy, not necessarily a total change in faces. He will make the policy, and his selected officials will implement them. They have apparently agreed to do his will, or they wouldn't have been put in their positions.
Duh ! That's akin to former Arizona Cardinal coach Dennis Green saying the Bears are who we thought they were ! How idiotic !

Obama can't turn around 8 years worth of screw ups overnight ! Heck it took Clinton 8 years to dismantle the crap that Reagan/Bush left behind after 12 years in office.

People won't admit it but America started declining when Reagan took office. He deregulated industries which left the door wide open for all the shenanigans we are now seeing from the S and L scandals of the 1980s through the whole Enron and Tyco fiasco till now with the $700B bail out of the AIGs of the world.

We have become a country of consumers and we are producing nothing. After WW2, we were a country of producers and as a result, our economy flourished. People had jobs that allowed them to hold their head up high and be proud to be an American. Those days stopped long ago !

Sadly since the 1980s, we have lost our way and become a nation of greedy self centered people.
Well I don't read either of those posts, but so far Obama has been exactly what I thought he would be. He is picking a cabinet of devout Washington insiders and already starting to back off on campaign promises. Now I don't care whether people want to blame Bush or not, but the situations have not changed dramatically in the country. We have been seriously dropping economically for two years now and yet Obama continued to make broad proclamations on the campaign trail which even the most casual observer should have realized were just not feasible. Obama has the next four years to prove me wrong, but based on current actions I feel pretty sure my position will be vindicated properly in the end.
I am a moderate independent swing voter who reluctantly cast his ballot for Obama this time, thinking McCain would be even worse - but since then I have been very pleased with his post-election performance, Cabinet picks, and the way he has been breaking all his campaign promises: keeping the Bush tax cuts in place, leaving troops in Iraq for the long term, etc. - I can only imagine the far-left blogosphere must be absolutely furious with him!!

Which can only be good for our country.
More so, he supports more government intervention into individual lives and wants socialized medicine, higher taxes and tight controls on all businesses. Big brother here we come.
So far he's what I expected.

I think there are some Conservatives that are wondering why the Constitution is still in force after some of their rants.
Ask that question again in 50 years. I'll tell you one thing that's clear this early -- Obama is better than Bush!!
He's not even in office yet.
So far so good.
They have no idea who he really is.
Just an empty suit with skinny arms...and all.
Lets wait and see, huh?
